At Home With... Marlon Hedrick

We talk sweetness and tropical sun with contributor and poet Marlon Hedrick

Where is home for you?

Home, for me, is right here in Austin, TX. It is a paradox of a place. Hills & flat, town & city. I am happy to call here my home.

What feels most like home: rain, sun, clouds, thunder, drizzle?

It's so hot here! Hours in the sun. But, home feels tropical to me – sun & water. Thus, I'm gonna have to go with rain. Whatever brings the most water. Whatever brings the ocean.

Eat in, or go out?

Go out, for sure! There is too much culture, exchange, and sweetness to sink into. Although my partner is a wonderful cook. (Shoutout!)

Where is home away from home?

Home away from home is my homeland, Saipan. My beloved! Where I'm from and where I'm going. My words & worth. In some things, everything.
